Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 4, 2026

HabitGate, Inc. ("HabitGate," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use HabitGate, including our website at habitgate.app, our mobile applications, and our browser extension (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through:

  • the HabitGate website;
  • the HabitGate mobile applications;
  • the HabitGate browser extension; and
  • related customer support, subscription, and account services.

2. Information We Collect

We design HabitGate to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible while still providing the product.

A. Information You Provide Directly

Depending on how you use HabitGate, we may collect the following information you provide to us:

  • Account information such as your email address and password.
  • Third-party sign-in information if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google. In that case, we may receive basic account details from that provider, such as your email address and an account identifier.
  • Habit data for synced paid accounts, which currently may include:
    • habit titles;
    • habit schedules; and
    • habit completion status.
  • Customer support communications if you contact us at support@habitgate.app.
  • Billing and subscription information related to purchases and subscription status.

B. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

If you use HabitGate on a free or base plan without syncing, your habits and completion data may be stored only on your device and not on our servers.

Because locally stored data is controlled by your device, clearing app data, browser storage, uninstalling the app or extension, or resetting your device may remove that data.

C. Technical and Usage Information

We may collect limited technical and usage information necessary to operate, secure, and improve HabitGate. This may include:

  • device type, operating system, browser type, app or extension version, and similar technical details;
  • IP address or approximate location derived from IP address;
  • timestamps, error logs, crash reports, and performance diagnostics;
  • information about subscription status and whether sync features are enabled; and
  • high-level product usage events, such as whether a habit was completed, whether a blocking flow was triggered, or aggregate counts used to measure product usage.

Where practical, we aim to keep this data limited, aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise privacy-protective.

D. Website Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies for purposes such as:

  • keeping the website functioning properly;
  • measuring traffic and product interest;
  • understanding campaign performance; and
  • improving the user experience.

E. Permissions and Blocking Functionality

Depending on your platform, HabitGate may require permissions that allow the app or extension to help block selected websites or apps, show reminders, store settings locally, or support related functionality.

We use those permissions to provide the product's core features, not to build advertising profiles about you.

F. Information We Do Not Intend to Collect

At this time, we do not intend to collect or store detailed server-side histories of the specific websites you visit or the specific apps you open for advertising purposes. Our goal is to focus on HabitGate functionality and high-level product analytics, not detailed browsing surveillance.

3. How We Use Information

We may use information we collect to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain HabitGate;
  • authenticate users and manage accounts;
  • sync habits and completion status across devices for paid users;
  • process subscriptions and payments;
  • send transactional messages such as receipts, account notices, or support replies;
  • analyze performance, fix bugs, and monitor reliability;
  • understand how HabitGate is used, including aggregate usage trends;
  • develop product features such as streaks, progress insights, and related functionality;
  • protect the security and integrity of the Services; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. How We Share Information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

A. Service Providers

We may share information with vendors and service providers that help us operate HabitGate, such as providers for:

  • hosting and cloud infrastructure;
  • authentication;
  • payment processing;
  • analytics;
  • crash reporting and performance monitoring;
  • email delivery; and
  • customer support tools.

These providers may process information on our behalf subject to their own terms and data handling practices.

B. Payment and Platform Providers

If you subscribe through Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms process your payment information under their own privacy policies. If you subscribe through our website, payment processing may be handled by Stripe or a similar payment processor. We generally do not store full payment card numbers ourselves.

C. Legal Compliance and Protection

We may disclose information if we believe doing so is necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request;
  • protect the rights, safety, or property of HabitGate, our users, or others;
  • detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or
  • enforce our agreements or policies.

D. Business Transfers

If HabitGate is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

5. We Do Not Sell Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information.

If we use website cookies, pixels, or similar advertising or analytics tools, certain technical data may be disclosed to those providers as part of operating or measuring our website and marketing.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you request deletion of your account data, we aim to delete or anonymize applicable personal information within 30 days, unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or backup purposes.

We may retain aggregated or de-identified information for longer.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using a strong password.

8. International Users and Data Transfers

HabitGate may operate in the United States and other countries. Your information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where you live, which may have different data protection laws.

By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, subject to applicable law.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:

  • request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • request a copy of certain information in a portable format; or
  • object to or limit certain processing, where applicable.

To make a privacy-related request, contact us at support@habitgate.app.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

Email and Transactional Communications

We may send service-related communications such as receipts, password resets, account notices, and support responses. These are not promotional messages.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

You may be able to control cookies and similar technologies through your browser or device settings. Blocking some technologies may affect website functionality.

10. Children's Privacy

HabitGate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us at support@habitgate.app, and we will take appropriate steps to review and delete the information if required.

11. Third-Party Services and Links

The Services may rely on or link to third-party services, including Apple, Google, and Stripe. Those third parties have their own privacy policies and practices, and this Privacy Policy does not cover their separate services.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with HabitGate.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice by updating the effective date above, posting the revised policy on our website, or using other reasonable means.

Your continued use of the Services after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means the updated Privacy Policy will apply going forward.
